Upcoming DOJ Pan Asia Events & Reminders

Good afternoon fellow DOJ Pan Asia members! I hope you all had a relaxing weekend. We have some information we would like to share with you:

(1) Membership Dues Reminder: This is a friendly reminder for those who have not renewed their membership to please visit our website www.dojpanasia.org/#!join-us/c2438 (simply click the buy now button) to renew your membership. Your nominal $5 annual membership dues go towards providing for the many programs which DOJ Pan Asia hosts throughout the year. These include our professional development programs, our luncheon brown bag seminars and our much anticipated Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Program at Main Justice. We hope to see you at our events!

(2) Social Lunch: We would love to get know our members and share with you how to become more involved with DOJ Pan Asia. So, we would like to invite our members to a social lunch with the DOJ Pan Asia Board. We can enjoy some good food while discussing the future of DOJ Pan Asia and how you envision the organization being able to help you!!

When: Thursday, March 20, 2014 @ Noon.

Where: Wok and Roll Restaurant in Chinatown. 604 H St NW, Washington, DC

(3) Day of Service: Capital Area Food Bank: DOJ Pan Asia members are invited to volunteer their time at the Capital Area Food Bank on April 5, 2014 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. Children ages 12 and up can volunteer at the food bank with the participation of their parents and a signed waiver. For more information please visit https://www.capitalareafoodbank.org/volunteer/

(4) FAPAC Workforce Diversity Federal Workers Survey: The FAPAC Workplace Diversity Challenge Team is examining the challenges facing Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPI) in recruitment and hiring into the Federal government. Please help FAPAC identify these challenges, and recommend ways to overcome them, by filling out their survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GGGP8NQ

FAPAC invites you to take the survey and forward the survey link to other Federal workers who can provide additional insight on the needs for effective and efficient recruiting efforts in the AAPI and NHPI communities. The survey will be open starting Wednesday, March 5, 2014 through Wednesday, March 12, 2014. The survey responses will be reported in aggregate; no individual responses will be reported.

The Federal Asian Pacific American Council (www.FAPAC.org), with participation from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, is sponsoring the FAPAC Challenge Team Program. The FAPAC Challenge Team Program is an innovative new project-oriented, experiential training-based program targeted at developing skills for emerging federal employee leaders while working to solve the dilemmas facing the federal government when addressing the needs of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) federal employees and communities.
