The DOJ AAPI Heritage Month Program

DOJ Pan Asia works closely with DOJ’s Justice Management Division (JMD) in helping to create a dynamic program each May that celebrates the contributions of the DOJ’s Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) workforce every year.

 

Past keynote speakers for the DOJ AAPI Heritage Month Program include Astronaut Daniel Tani (2010), Former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal (2011), U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara (2012), U.S. Marshal for the District of Hawaii Gervin Miyamoto (2012), and Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (2013), Secretary Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki (2014) and Jenny R. Yang

Chair EEOC (2015).

 

 

Brown Bag Seminars

DOJ Pan Asia had the great fortune of sponsoring and co-sponsoring a number of highly successful Brown Bag Seminars with its fellow employee organizations and component diversity committees.  Past Brown Bag Seminars include:

Other Programs and Events

  • DOJ Pan Asia Mentoring Program: The DOJ Pan Asia Mentoring Program is designed to assist less experienced DOJ employees in their professional development by pairing them with more established DOJ employees.  During the formal year of mentorship, the mentor offers career support, guidance and assistance to the protégé, and achieves professional development and personal fulfillment as well.

  • DOJ Pan Asia Happy Hours:  DOJ Pan Asia organizes a number of happy hours throughout the year to give its members further opportunities to connect.  Past happy hours include our annual Summer Intern Happy Hour, as well as collaborative happy hours with the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Greater Washington D.C. Area, Inc. (APABA-DC), the Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL), and Sejong Society.

  • DOJ Pan Asia Town Hall Forums:  DOJ Pan Asia and JMD sponsored the inaugural DOJ Pan Asia Town Hall Forum on Nov. 20, 2012, which focused on employment statistics and issues pertaining to the DOJ AAPI workforce and featured Special Guest Speakers Richard L. Parker, Deputy Associate Attorney General for Diversity Management, and Richard Toscano, Director, Equal Opportunity Employment Staff. DOJ Pan Asia held its second Town Hall on May 2, 2013, focusing on employment in the Senior Executive Service.  You can find a detailed description of this Town Hall in the "History" section of our website, under "2013 Programs/Events."
